A Sporty-themed September…

Posted On August 31, 2007 by Dan

There’s a new September catalog out today in the Sport Shop, with a heap of really cool sporty items, including a surf board you can play ‘Catchin’ waves’at the cove with, or a wake board you can play ‘Ballistic Biscuit’ with at the Dock. Both come in either boys or girls colors, and you must be a member.

There is one secret in the catalog this month. Click on the Penguin holding the surf boards and then click on each shell in the sand, and the board will change to the “Silver Surfboard”

Speaking of Sports…. there’s some changes inside the actual sport’s shop. Few decorative items or “Furniture” placed around, and it’s really crowded at the moment too since all the hype lately has been around the Sport’s shop :)

Of course, as the title suggests, there’s a new pin today. You’ll find it in the Boiler room (Go to the Plaza and go into the drain is the quickest way in)…. it’s a Baseball!

Sport Shop Project Revealed

Posted On August 30, 2007 by Dan

The project at the Sport Shop was revealed today in the Penguin times, with a few really cool changes being implemented as of tomorrow.

Instead of only riding on a ring, you can now do the Ballistic Biscuit course on a “wakeboard”… and the project has just been completed.

Not only that, but there are a few new items being added with it, probably associated with the game and your outfit (I suspect it’s clothing associated with boarding.. like a wetsuit)..

To use the wakeboard when it comes out, you can purchase it from the Sport Shop and make sure you’re wearing it when you click to ‘Play Ballistic Biscuit’…

All in all it should be a fun Summer-y addition to the game, and also keep a look out for the next Pin tomorrow too. If you’d like to read reviews and Penguins’ thoughts on what Camp Penguin was like if you missed it, make sure you read the latest Penguin Times.

Bon Voyage, Rockhopper!

Incase you didn’t notice, because we sure didn’t, but Captain Rockhopper quietly left during Camp Penguin to pick up the rest of that mysterious cargo.

I expect to see him back in just over a week with plenty of new suprises for us. You can expect free new items, a new event and other cool stuff.

Keep a look-out in the telescope on top of the lighthouse for signs of his return!

Changing Your Penguin’s Color

Posted On by Dan

This is a question I’ve been asked a couple of times over the last week by new players, so I thought it was perfect to do a small article on to help any beginning players know exactly how easy it is to change the color of your Penguin.

Now, you’d know that when you register and sign up you choose a color, and some people spend a considerable amount of time making sure they choose one that suits them the best… not realising that it’s actually really easy to switch colours from as soon as you get into the game.

Color Club Penguin

You need 20 Penguin coins

If you haven’t got any coins the first thing you need to do is play any game. It’s really simple to make 20 coins, you only need 200 points in Astro Barrier - or you only need to win one Sled race or lose in two on the mountain.

Go to the Sport Shop

The Sport Shop is located in the Ski Village at the bottom of the mountain…. it’s on the top left of the Map. It’s the building on the right of the screen with all the sport equipment out front.

Buy a colored blob

Then all that’s left is to buy a colored blob from the first page of the catalog inside the Sport Shop for 20 coins. There are 13 different colors to choose from. The picture will show you the different colors available and the look in the catalog. I suspect more will be added in the future, but this is the list as of August 29, 2007.

Membership vs. No Membership

Posted On August 27, 2007 by Dan

When I first discovered Club Penguin, I had no idea what features or options it had available to it’s members compared to the free playing members. Obviously I knew that there were more options for those paid members, but I had no idea that the whole experience of the game changes when you finally get that first paid membership.

The memberships for Club Penguin are available in three different packages at which you get discounts for the longer you have the membership purchased.

Monthly $5.95

Igloo Club Penguin

6-Monthly $29.95

Yearly $57.95

Here are some of the features you get for being a member compared to being a free playing member.

  • The ability to customize and decorate your own Igloo
  • A lot of more items.
  • Hundreds of more clothing features.
  • The ability to view new areas before free playing members when they’re added

The way I view free membership is that it’s more of a trial to see whether or not you enjoy the game. If you do, and you’re going to immerse yourself more fully in the Club Penguin community, then I suggest you get a membership.

If you can’t afford one, ask for one for Christmas or Birthday’s… and if you still can’t get one, within the next couple of month’s stay tuned for competitions here… we’re going to give away Club Penguin gift packs with membership!
